Gagik Hovhannisyan

Author and host of Chess-64 program series chess commentator Gagik Hovhannisyan was born in 1947 in Yerevan. Currently he is Editor General of ‘Shakhmatajin Hayastan” Magazine, Secretary General of Armenia Chess Federation, and World Chess Federation (FIDE) Chair of the Media Committee. Gagik Hovhannisyan is the sixth World Amateur Chess Champion, winner of the Chess Oskar, FIDE Golden Book and Golden Sign. He is Associate Professor at Yerevan State University Department of Journalism, author of 44 books on chess published in Armenian, Russian and English. Gagik Hovhannisyan was awarded Movses Khorenatsi medal.
