Slava Sargsyan

Slava Sargsyan has been Chief Editor at Studio Sport of Armenia Public TV Company since 1995. He was born in 1949 in Georgia and is a graduate of #79 Armenian Secondary School in Tbilisi. He did his military service in the Soviet Army. When Slava Sargsyan won in a sport commentators’ contest he left Tbilisi for Yerevan and has been sport commentator of Armenia Public TV since 1972. In 1975-86 he worked as a coach at National Football School. In 1985 he became a member of the Journalists’ Union. In 1986 he joined the National Sport Committee and has been the Deputy Department Head up until the collapse of the Soviet Union. After Independence he was elected First Deputy to the President of Armenian Football Federation and worked in this capacity until the year of 1995. He was appointed Chief Editor at Studio Sport of Public TV Company the same year. In 1998 Slava Sargsyan was awarded the title of Physical Training Honoured Worker, in 2000 received a Certificate of Appreciation from the president of the Republic of Armenia and was recognized as the Best Commentator of Armenia in 2009. In 2011 he was awarded Movses Khorenatsi medal. Slava Sargsyan is married, has a son and two grandchildren.
